If I’ve Said it Once…

I’ve said it a thousand times; There is only a shortage of drivers that want to drive for the low wages. Recruiting Owner Operators takes the burden and hassle of owning and maintaining equipment and benefits like health and 401k’ from the company and put it onto the owner operator. But they still have to pay a rate to the owner operator that makes it worth while.

Fleets Woo More Independents

LAS VEGAS – To combat an increasing shortage of drivers in the face of rising freight demand, fleets are using a variety of tactics to get more owner-operators to sign with them on a full-time basis.

“The owner-operator is a tough breed to find now – the last three years have been rough on them,” Jack Sypolt, recruiting manager for truckload carrier Gordon Trucking Inc., told Fleet Owner here at The Truck Show. “But we’re looking for them because not just anyone can go out and buy a truck in this industry and make a living at it – there’s a lot of professionalism and experience among independents. That’s why we’re recruiting them.”

The last three years have been tough on owner operators. Hopefully, those of us that are left are a little bit smarter and will only go with a company that pays. Because owner operators are only about the money. There are no benefits involved or to be compared. SHOW US THE MONEY!!!
