I think the mexican workers are good workers. They work for less money because they need work and they need money to can survive. The H2b visa ins a good oportunity for them and for their families. The Ameerican people can get a better job than truck driver, they can study because they are in they country and they speak english the thing is they do not want to get a better job and just want to stay where they are….America is the country of oportunities.

Nothing against Mexicans or Russians or whatever, the point I try and make is the companies are only hiring foreigners to keep their wages low (and mine) and to exploit their need for a job and now their need to stay in this country.

Last time I checked Mexicans didn’t have to speak or learn English if they didn’t want to. Everything is translated into Spanish for them already, including College.

Maybe Mexico should fix their own country instead of sending their people to the US to fix their employment problem.

Seems every veteran driver assumes he/she will be driving until they’re ready to retire in their late 60s. Had you done research on how many drivers fail their DOT physical and are forced to undergo a career change? Evidence of this is by simply scanning the crowd of truckers over the weekend at any truckstop. You see a lot of drivers in their 30s, 40s, and early to mid 50s; but begin to see less starting from late 50s on up! Myself, I’ve anticipated my health will eventually fail a DOT physical and had started taking classes at a junior college to make a career change. Theres just too many immigrant truckers out there, and I’ve learned after 25 years of trucking that $$ profit and productivity takes precedence over morality and safety in big business. I’m glad to see that the term “driver shortage” is synonymous with “driver turnover.”
