Diesel Price Down Again.

The national average diesel price is down again for the 7th week in a row from it’s high of 3.065 on 8/7. I know several drivers whose pay per mile is a flat rate and they get an added fuel surcharge per mile depending on the DOE national average. It usually takes rates a lttle while to follow either direction. Which is the problem with O/O’s that can’t survive for even a little while during a rise in fuel or any other expenses.

We should be seeing the rates we’re able to get go down a little pretty soon. The fuel scare was good while it lasted. If you don’t get your email from the DOE with the diesel price and your pay is hooked to that number or if you’re curious, it’s here. Sign up for automatic email notifications and you’ll get an email every Monday with the national and regional average prices.

Yes, the prices are following right along with the elections coming up. The oil companies are buddies with Bush. Since the Republicans need help at this stage, they’re pulling out all the stops. After the election, the prices will go sky high, no matter which party controls Congress. The Repubs will be lame ducks and the oil companies won’t care if they screw the Repubs or Dems.
