Dispatching - Obvious choice. There is such a small ratio of dispatchers to drivers, moving into the office and may not always be a viable path for a lot of drivers. Dispatching would also include being a freight broker agent for someone else or you get your broker’s authority and go out on your own if you have contacts and the salesmanship necessary for gaining new customers.

What would be a viable path? Moving from company driver to owner operator is adding responsibility. Owning more than one truck is even more responsibility.

I thought you might have an interest in checking out a new site that offers a job-specific compatibility assessment for Long Haul Truck Driver. The assessment is based on an in-depth job analysis with drivers who have found long-term success and personal fulfillment in the job. The assessment can be accessed free of charge and provides instant results (one through 5 stars) along with a narrative.

An existing driver can demonstrate their value to a future employer to justify improved compensation and to separate him/herself from the pack. Driver training candidates can complete the assessment to see if trucking is a good job-match before investing time and money pursuing training.

Respectfully,

This is a wonderful idea Mark. I see so many truck drivers get into the industry that have no clue to what there actually getting into. Go through the truck driving school spend wasted time and dollars to figure out that that can not even get a job with the good trucking companies.
