California Action

I found two articles about the action in California that weren’t the same AP release that was everywhere. The San Jose Business Journal and the CalTrade Report. The so-called industry trade associations are denouncing the action as illegal. Yeah, it was but it made the national news.

I don’t see the California Trucking Assoc on the national news except to cover their own butts. At least these guys did something. The San Jose article has a point saying that most of the trucks can go in and out of California without refueling. The trucks that don’t go out of the state are the ones stuck paying for the high cost of fuel.

I thought it was great! I liked the idea of the slow moving convoy better than just the blockade. But the blockade was the one that made the headlines. California has no one to thank but themselves. The environmentalists have destroyed that state. Not enough refineries and the refineries that are left are stuck processing the heck out of the fuel.

Most, if not all of the port truckers are owner operators. The articles say that they can’t pass along the high prices to the customer. Trust me, someone is. The port operators seem to be the only ones that can get any kind of organization or strike going. I’m not saying that striking is the answer, but I’m sure they are desperate right now.

The only answer to higher fuel prices nationwide is higher rates to carry that junk. Period. How do we get higher freight rates. One is don’t take cheap freight, but I realize sometimes it’s better to take something than to sit there. Anything else? I’m working on an idea and it will be my new Jihad! Check back soon.
