Bozo, Nemo and Mack

Truckers have long had a couple of late night talk shows on the AM dial. The Truckin’ Bozo, Dave Nemo and Bill Mack. I admit I don’t listen very much to any of these shows.

For one, it’s not my taste in music, they play mostly old style country and old trucking songs. Between songs most of them take callers. This is usually the part I can’t stand, people that call in use their CB handles and it’s mostly just a late night redneck chit-chat / bitch session.

That was probably fine back when most listeners could only listen late at night on a hand full of super AM stations that broadcast throughout most of the country. Back then the trucker population was different then it is today.

Now there are a lot of immigrants from all over the world, there are more women and the age group has gotten younger as the truckers from yesterday have aged and are close to retirement. More drivers are driving school graduates and not from the generation that learned how to drive on their daddy’s knee. Personally, I would have loved it if my dad was a trucker, but he wasn’t and I had no other choice than to go to school. Driving school graduates in general are looked down upon by the ‘old timers’, but that’s another blog.

All three are on XM satellite radio and are on all times throughout the day, not just late at night. I feel that someone should change their format to relate to more drivers. Cut out the music and the free-for-all chit-chat format and have a more technically and industry oriented talk show. I understand it would be difficult for the late night shows to have industry type guests, but the times that I have heard Bozo have an occasional guest, they have been excellent shows.

I will listen once in a while just to hear the commercials for the trucking products. All three are fine shows, but trucking has changed and someone needs to step up to the plate make a change in their format. If nothing else, keep people on one topic at a time, have an information filled discussion then go on to the next topic. And cut down on the chit-chat.

Hi all…

First time poster here from Canada

If the fuel prices are really starting to get to you, here is an idea that should get the attention of all the oil companies…

What are we going to do about the gas and diesel prices?
My Idea was to promote a sneaky way to make the gas station chains suffer one month at a time for their price fixing…

The idea is to get a newspaper or a radio/TV station to promote my suggestion that we all become “Gas PESTS”

We have a few big refiners which can be targeted in order until they drop their prices …

P/ Stands for Petro Canada (Or Philips in the US) and we should boycott them on Jan, May, Sept

E/ Stands for Esso (or Exxon in the US) and we should boycott them on Feb, June and Oct

S/ Stands for Sunoco and Shell and we avoid them on Mar, July and Nov

T/ Stands for “Texaco” and “Take” your pick of the remaining gas companies and shun them on Apr, Aug and Dec

I figure that the ones who are boycotted will drop their prices maybe 10% to attract some business and the others will follow when they get ignored.
You can still choose to ignore them until they complain to head office or start filling up at their lower price.
They will choose to NOT go bankrupt and prices will drop across the board.

Oh! and don’t buy a thing in their attached grocery stores either.
We can beat up BIG OIL

Take care and spread the Gas PEST rebellion.

Replies welcome. ;>)

Why you put this under a post about “Bozo” I’m not sure, but no matter what the company name, the fuel comes from the same refinery’s, so what good would boycotting do. You still have to have fuel from somewhere and Texaco knows if you boycott Monday, you’re buying gas on Tuesday. Thanks for the stupid idea.
