A New Year

ipodAfter the last few posts about not driving enough, being burned out and freight in general on a downturn you would think I was ready to park the truck for good. Our little vacation last month really helped a lot. We’re back at work and as soon as we were ready we got a decent paying load and added some bonus freight on top of it. We might have to sit for a few days, but at least it’s Florida and not Snowtown, Coldville or the city of Icy Roads.

I haven’t really bad mouthed my company, but we were getting a little disappointed. But since the boss gave us an 80 gig iPod for our Christmas bonus and we’re working right now, everything is okay at the moment.

After getting the iPod I was searching for a decent (in my opinion) trucker’s podcast to listen to. I’ve tried a few, but most are way too long. A half hour or an hour or more of listening to someone ramble on about their day isn’t exactly my cup of tea. Sorry, while some are well done, I think most would be much better if they were shorter. Or maybe it’s my ADD kicking in, I’m just saying…g

Which has me thinking, that if I can’t find what I like, I might do one myself. It would be the same form as the website – news and opinions, short and to the point. Leave a comment to vote one way or the other while I’m still making up my mind and considering some other changes to the site.

Congrats on the iPod! Put it to good use and check out my podcast if you get a chance. Bring a healthy sense of humor — because “Billy Big Rig” is that guy you hear in EVERY truck stop, sitting in his sleeper with his mike cord running back through the curtains, telling the world what he “thinks” about EVERYTHING! He doesn’t ever let the fact that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about slow him down.

I invite you to check it out — if you like it, tell your friends.

BTW– you don’t need an iPod to listen… just go to http://feed.billywisdom.com and click the buttons. Then, if you like it, you can subscribe on iTunes or whatever you use.

Happy New Year, and keep the shiny side up!

“Billy”

It’s about time you did a podcast

I rarely listen to them, but don’t count on my opinion. I’m with you on the overly long podcasts – thirty minutes bumps up against my ADD as well.
